KUBO Group has appointed Remco van der Mije as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), effective 1 October 2026. In this role, he will focus on further international growth, strengthening the commercial organisation, and building strategic customer relationships and partnerships.

Food production is becoming increasingly complex worldwide. Energy, labour, water and capital are playing an ever greater role in investment decisions, while the need for predictable production and greater control over the cultivation process continues to grow. By connecting technology, cultivation knowledge, data and services, KUBO helps customers optimise these factors as an integrated whole.

Greater control over the growing climate

Climate change is increasing the need for controlled growing environments. Semi-closed greenhouses can play an important role by enabling more precise control of temperature, humidity, airflows and energy use.

With Ultra-Clima®, KUBO has been developing semi-closed greenhouse concepts for many years, with a strong focus on climate control and the efficient use of CO2, energy and water. Combined with cultivation knowledge, R&D and optimisation services, KUBO focuses on the performance of the entire cultivation system.

“The horticulture sector is facing significant challenges. I am impressed by the technology and solutions KUBO offers and by the projects being delivered worldwide, from challenging projects in warm climates such as Saudi Arabia to colder climates such as Canada. I look forward to getting to know the sector and our customers well in the coming period and, together with colleagues and partners, continuing to develop solutions that contribute to predictable cultivation and the efficient use of energy and water, resulting in a compelling business case,” says Van der Mije.

Building on the existing strategy

KUBO has been evolving for some time from a greenhouse supplier into a broader solution partner. In the coming years, the company aims to further develop this approach by connecting greenhouse design, technology, energy, water, cultivation knowledge, data and services into one integrated food production system.

This is also changing the nature of commercial conversations. In addition to the initial investment, factors such as energy use, productivity, risk, cultivation results and operational performance are playing an increasingly important role.

Connecting customers and partners internationally

Van der Mije brings extensive international experience and has worked across EMEA, North America and Asia since 2010 in the areas of strategy, commercial growth, M&A and investment management within high-tech sectors.

As European Head of Science & Tech, he led an investment management business focused on real assets, infrastructure and complex R&D labs. This experience is highly relevant to modern horticulture, where large-scale projects increasingly require institutional capital structures and multidisciplinary collaboration.

“I therefore see the role of CCO as broader than commercial growth alone,” says Van der Mije. “We want to build long-term relationships with our customers and develop a thorough understanding of what they need to succeed. To achieve this, we need to leverage the full breadth of knowledge within KUBO and, where necessary, connect other parties as well, including technology partners, energy companies, investors and financiers.”

A key area of focus will be leveraging the combined strength of the companies within KUBO Group to further expand the group’s position in key international markets.

“KUBO already has a strong foundation as a leading international player,” says Van der Mije. “My ambition is to build on that foundation and connect the knowledge, technology and international experience within KUBO even more closely with our customers’ ambitions.”
